Turismo (Tourism)

Sugestão musical para esta leitura / Musical suggestion for this reading: Fix You (Coldplay – X&Y)

O turismo.

Tourism (Turismo)

Tourism. So what is tourism? The WTO/UN says it is going to, and staying, in places outside of our normal environment for a not very long period. So it is something we spend an enormous amount of time of our lives doing. We really are tourists by nature only we do not accept it (accept does not mean agreeing just knowing/feeling that it is so).
Our life is composed much of tourism in particular when we are not able to interiorize the flow of this same life. Life flows and according to our choices in the present moment, the only one that really exists, and so it is. However, these choices have consequences, consequences that we often do not want to see, accept. It may have to do with a lot but usually it has to do with the change, the pain, the evolution (a new step in our path). As many of us are not attuned to their flow and present in the moment, one of the ways to deal with it all is tourism.
Wanna see? And no, it’s not judgment, only observations.
We have a job, which gives us financial stability for the future (sigh!) and even allow us to enjoy the family, and suddenly, there it is, that bifurcation in our path, where, on one side all remains more or less as before, and on the other, we see lurking what we really are, what makes us feel to be and not just to do, a path that points to our essence. What to do? Tourism!
Here we go, tiptoeing, to try this second option so "out of our environment" and get a taste of the flow of life. And amazingly, it's cool! But then the mind comes into operation and starts shooting at us all that that implies/will imply in the future and as we're not literally present, we can only look at this as tourism. It is very good, seems to be what works for us, but only for a bit, then we must go back to “life”.
Or another choice in life, there are many hypotheses, how about having children? It is fascinating to be able to tell the adventures and share those fantastic pictures they provide but like all others, it is one more choice and of it, consequences arise. And it is very difficult to make tourism from this situation even though many do and continue to embark on a tourist adventure over and over related with their children or with many other things. The flow of life becomes different, there was a choice, and so the things of the past are really different from the ones of the present, as much as you want to do tourism and say that no, that everything was just a tourist adventure and that everything will continue to flow in the same way, this will not happen. I went there, to this tourist trip to have a child because it's cool, because the others have too, because I can tell and show also that I have, because I really wanted to have, but once I got back I’ll have and do (I don’t dare mention be) all that I had before. It will not be so. All we did, what we felt, will be different now; it’s not worth thinking we're in a tourist trip and that in a while we return to “our environment”. You must accept it and act from that point onwards. As I said this is not a judgment, tourism is part of life, whether be it physical tourism, emotional tourism or even spiritual tourism where we can go there to do a cleansing retreat, or periodically gather with our “spiritual colleagues” all this so that we can Feel ourselves, but then we must go back to “life” and end the tourist trip.
So in the midst of all these comings and goings, of all this tourism, it may happen that one day we begin to feel that maybe what we have been living up until now, and that makes us feel so much pain, it’s what it looks more like a tourist trip, like an illusion chosen by us with a divine purpose and not with the reality of who we really are.
